General Information about SSNES

I’ve posted about this before, but the thread was gone, so anyways.

SSNES is a simple command-line based frontend for libsnes. It is aimed toward Linux/Unix users (or ascetic Windows users), and is written completely in C99. It is configured through a config file only. It is buildable for Windows, but build system isn’t set up for this yet.

It currently supports:

• Loading of ROMs from stdin (make wrapper scripts, and you can load whatever you want of zipped roms.)
• Configurable save-RAM path.
• Configurable aspect-ratio.
• Configurable libsnes implementation. (E.g. can pick between libsnes-performance.so libsnes-compat.so and libsnes-accuracy.so … or libsnes9x.so :D)
• Video plugins: OpenGL
• Audio plugins: ALSA, OSS, JACK, OpenAL, RoarAudio, RSound
• bSNES-style XML shaders
• Cg shaders (Similiar interface as bSNES shaders). Compatible with SNES9x-PS3 shaders.
• CPU-based filters (not very fleshed out yet).
• Audio resampling with libsamplerate.
• Configurable with ./configure.
• On-the-fly video/audio recording with FFmpeg. (This is under development ;p).
• Joypad support (with axis).
• FPS counter in taskbar.
• Toggleable fast-forward.
• … Probably some I forgot about. Building: If you’re on Arch, you can install the ssnes-git package from AUR. If (most likely) not, you can clone from git.

./configure <params of choice here if you don't want autodetecting, check --help>

sudo make install

Default config file skeleton is installed to /etc/ssnes.cfg. You should copy it to $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/ssnes/ssnes.cfg for per-user config. You do not have to define everything, only those things that you want changed.
