It seems I have found another game not compatible with nestopia in retroarch. Gradius 2 quits back to xmb when you try and launch it. I have tried many variants of the rom which all fail to load.
I have test the rom with nestopia on pc and it works.
Now there are two roms that don’t work this and crisis force (j) nes. Is it something to do with how these games are made? Or possibly retroarch nestopia on ps3 can’t play jap roms?
If anyone can resolve this issue I would be grateful.

You’re probably missing “NstDatabase.xml” which needs to be in RetroArchs system folder.

I’m not sure where it is located in the Playstation port though.
I guess I’ll throw this file into the emulator directory and see if the game loads up. Thank you
I placed the xml file within the ps3 emulator and also tried creating a .nestopia folder with the file inside and Gradius 2 will not boot on retroarch ps3. I copy Pasted the required file everywhere with the emulator but unfortunately it still won’t load.
Can anyone help me?
Fixed the issue. It seems the nestopia core in retroarchon ps3 is not compatible with the game. Switched to FCEU core and the game works fine now.
