Higan SFC Accuracy - Black Screen with Super Mario Kart + BIOS

I have already put the special chips to the system-folder on my RA-directory which allowed SMK to work with BSNES Accuracy-core, but upon switching to Higan, it stopped working and now gives me just black screen upon startup. Tested the special cores on the actual Higan-emulator and I can confirm it working there, just not finding a way to make it work on Retroarch.

Is the support for DSP1-powered games currently not working for Higan-core on RA?

It works, but higan uses different special chip images. They’re technically copyrighted, so I can’t tell you where you would find them, other than dumping them from your own ROMs, but if you google ‘higan special chip’, you might find more information.

Actually I had gotten those exact same ones you are hinting at, but they still don’t do it for me. It’s also the ones I used for Higan-emulator (to which I presume BSNES-oriented special chips don’t work). Still black screen.

I’ll try to test this evening, but I’m pretty sure those worked for me. In the meantime, try getting a verbose log and it should tell you where it’s looking for them and what it’s looking for, exactly.

How to do that? Seems bit complicated to me from what I find from here-

You just need to run from a command line with --verbose --log-file log.txt and it will print everything to a log file.

I just checked and those images worked for me. Just make sure you get the ones that have e.g. dsp1b.data.rom and dsp1b.program.rom

Hmm, I’m not seeing it even look for those special chips. It looks like it’s just crapping out immediately before it even gets to that part.

Can you try using a No-Intro ROM and see if that does any better?

Using NSRT Frontend, I can confirm mine’s the No-Intro one through checking hashes that match the ones in NO INTRO-rom.

Anyway, something odd happened, tried another rom that was sfc-format and it works now. From what I could find, it seems the working rom had no header - the original one did, but couldn’t identify it. I suppose the header was corrupted.

Yeah, I’m not sure if the higan core supports headered ROMs at all.
