High CPU Usage - Lubuntu 14.04

I built Retroarch from source from the github, everything compiles and works just fine.

However, when I start up retroarch, just sitting at the menu my processor goes to ~50% load. It does this regardless of whether I use RGUI, GLUI, or XMB. My processor is a dual core Intel G3258 OC’d to 4.0Ghz.

For instance, if I compile & install an emulator, like Nestopia (not using libretro/retroarch), and run a game my CPU usage will be 10-15%. But if I play that same game using retroarch/libretro, my CPU usage is ~50% higher.

I’m not really even sure where to start on troubleshooting/debugging this setup.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I fixed this.

After trying a whole bunch of things, including re-compiling & installing the source I had downloaded from Github a few days ago, I updated my source files from GitHub (‘git pull’ in the folder of the downloaded assets), re-compiled and installed and Voila! Now my CPU sits nicely at 5% when at the menu.

Oh, ok. Weird. Well, whatever works, I guess

I’m glad you got it fixed up!
