How can I upgrade to RetroArch to the next version from menu?

OS: Windows 10 Pro

RetroArch Portable zip version 1.7.8

Is there an option in the menu where I can choose to upgrade to the next version?

I have done a sloppy upgrade in the past by downloading the latest version and unzipping it inside the older version folder.

I never felt like the sloppy unzipping way was the proper way of upgrading to the next version of RetroArch.

Can someone please confirm to me what’s the proper way to upgrade RetroArch?

the “sloppy” way should work fine, but the desktop menu (F5) also has an update option in the menus. This will upgrade you to the latest nightly build.
