How exactly do you install retro arch to Xbox 360?

I’m a super noob as in this is my first time doing this.

For hours ive searched and the only thing i found is copy the file to the hard drive. Do I need to have a certain firmware to run this or is this just drag and drop.( my Xbox is modded to play iso)

I have an 20gb hdd which prompts me to partitions, is this were the folder goes? And if so which ones do they go in?

Edit: or direct me to someplace that can help me.

Really, no one has a clue that would help me?

I only tried a very early pre-release build on my old RGHed xbox, but for that, I had to put it in a folder called Applications (or something like that) and then it showed up my xex loader thingie.

Sorry for being so vague, it’s been awhile since i messed with it. Perhaps someone else can do better.

You might also try asking in IRC. #retroarch on Freenode.

Someone in a different forum told me I needed a jtag console.

And I can’t just put it on my hard drive and play it. Is that true that I need a mod on the actual motherboard to play this?

Thanks for the response. I will check out we’re you directed me to.

it shouldn’t matter how your console is modded, so long as it can load unsigned applications. If it’s only had the DVD drive flashed to load burned games, you’ll need a more complete hack. I think you should be okay if it’s loading games from a USB hdd, though.

I think the procedure should be similar to running pirated XBLA games…

Thanks guys I am learning more by the day.

How much more of a hack do I need? Does it involve soldering?

And where do I put the games at in the hdd? Ex. Which folders, in what partition do I put the games?

Yes, RGH and jtag both involve soldering to the board.

As for the particulars on where to put things, I can’t really help, since your layout seems to be different from what I had (and that was quite a while ago for me anyway)

If you only have your DVD drive modded with a custom firmware and nothing else, then you can forget about running RetroArch 360 on it - it will only run copied games on DVD recordables.

You need either JTAG or RGH to be able to do something more than that.

As for how to do it - I honestly wouldn’t really be able to tell you - there are dedicated forums for this though where they will tell you how to mod your Xbox 360 and what you need.

If you have never done soldering, I would definitely not recommend that you try to do this by yourself. Try to find a guy who will do it for you - the 20 bucks or so it will cost you extra will more than offset any possible damage you might do to the console yourself caused by wrong installation/soldering.

Thanks guys for your help. I am definetly not going to do this on my own.

Again, really appreciate all the response. Hopefully I can get this done to my console and add more to this community forum than being just a newbie. :hangs head in shame:

@play3r 1 It’s all good, man. Everyone starts somewhere
