What do you mean? Do you want to change the name of the core?

If I’m not mistaken he’s referring to the system name.

On a real DS, in the BIOS menu, you can choose the name or ā€œnicknameā€ of your device. This shows up on numerous games for a myriad of reasons.

I concur with MechWarriorZero in that I too would like to change this if possible. It’s weird seeing the emulator’s name pop up inside the game instead of what you would have named your DS.

That being said, I wonder if it’s at all possible? I don’t believe there is any way to boot to BIOS or that the Desmemu emu has BIOS support at all.

Ah! I see

Search the core with a hex editor…

how do you change the name?

To elaborate on what I thiink @GeoMan was trying to say; It sounds like in order to edit the name ā€œDESMUMEā€, you’d have to open the file ā€œdesmume_libretro.dllā€ in a hex editor, and then alter that property yourself.

So, unless you understand hex editing (I sure don’t) then you/we are stuck with ā€œDESMUMEā€ for the forseeable future.

It is not that hard. First you need a hex editor. You can download the free HxD: https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/

YOU BACKUP desmume_libretro.dll FIRST!

Then you load it in HxD and search for Desmume. I had a quick look and there are quite a few Desmume entries. You have to experiment by changing one (don’t touch anything else or add extra characters). If it doesn’t work, delete the core, copy it from your backup and try with the next entry you will find.

Common sense: if you see Desmume.pointer for example it means that it is not what you are looking for. Usually it will be the name desmume between strange characters.

how do I find it under LAKKA?
