How to exit the emulator without quitting RetroArch compleatly? Win7

I am working with the windows 32 bit version of RetroArch and I have my usb controller all set up except I am having a problem. I cant exit the emulator without shutting the whole program down.

All I can find is this: input_enable_hotkey_btn = “8” input_exit_emulator_btn = “9” It exits the game, but not in a good way.

This key combo does not work right for windows. It doesn’t exit the rom, it completely exits from the RetroArch program by closing it all out. Means you gotta have a mouse or keyboard handy and relaunch the RetroArch.exe gui program every time you want to switch games.

I want to be able to hold this button combination and be able to exit a game, returning to the RetroArch gui ready to pick my next game to play from my rom list. All from my USB controller, no mouse and keyboard necessary.

Anyone have any ideas?

I guess I solved it on my own. While looking around at other hotkey combos I found this:

input_menu_toggle_btn

Seems to do just what I want. Thanks for looking anyway, perhaps this will help someone else out making a windows build too.

I wonder what you set to input_menu_toggle_btn to make it work. Documentation is scarce. Would you mind sharing?

it depends on your gamepad’s keycodes. You can map it to your gamepad in settings > input > hotkey.
