How to get .sav files working with the GBA core?

Hello fellow Retroarchers (and apologies if I posted this in the incorrect forum),

I have grabbed the latest Lakka, used Etcher.io then got it up and running. So far, I’m happy.

My problem is that after using Samba to transfer my ROMs and respective save files off my Android phone which I used both in MyBoy and MyOldBoy, they are unrecognised by whatever core is the default for GBA.

They use the .sav file format and no matter where I put them, whether it be in roms or savefile directory they are unrecognised. Pokémon Ruby will pick it up and therefore ask for a new game by default.

Is there anything I can do? I would like to continue where I left off on the big screen.

I think the tool linked in this post might be able to convert them for you: https://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1043&p=11252&viewfull=1#post11252

This thread appears to be designed for exporting save files for other emulators. Which is cool to know, but I need to be able to import the .sav first before I am interested in exporting it back.

Did you try it? If it’s just a pre-compiled this, and I think it is, it should work both directions. If not, let me know.
