How to hide on screen virtual controller buttons

Hi, Sorry if this has been asked before. I use my Bluetooth controller to play Retroarch on my Android tv box, I also play with GPD XD which is an Android device with controller. Both of them will show on screen virtual controller buttons when I play games. I don’t use any overlays.

I’m just wondering that can I hide on screen virtual controller buttons, it’s distracting and annoying when overlap on the game screen.

go into the menu, go to settings > onscreen display > onscreen overlay and change ‘display overlay’ to OFF.
