I can't get fonts in PPSSPP to work

I have never gotten PPSSPP fonts to work correctly. I have followed the documentation, and everything I can find online, and I just don’t understand why I can’t get this right. It seems like it should be pretty simple, but it’s making me feel like an idiot.

Here’s an example of what I mean. I can’t get the words to pop up here, at all, seemingly no matter what I do.

I am on Windows, for reference.

Can I please get someone to explain this to me like I am 5, because I’ve spent way too long trying to get this to work.

Just to be sure (Even though you mentioned the Docs.) do you have the standalone files in “Retroarch\system\PPSSPP”?

Yes, here is a screenshot of my Retroarch/system/PPSSPP folder:

As well as, for good measure, (and since that didn’t work) I put in the real PSP fonts files here:

Have you re-installed/Update the PPSSPP Core as I did that when I added the Fonts

… The fonts have been in place since MAY (You can even see this in the timestamps) On top of that I also regularly hit the core updater. I mean “regularly” Like at least once a month. I did it in August 100% for sure too.

I decided to do it again tonight, just for good measure, based on your question… and FML… It worked…

There is no logical explanation for this that I can come up with. I didn’t change anything since this post, other than doing the “Update Installed Cores” option that I always do.

I… … there are no words other than thank you. I think if I try to figure this out my brain will melt. So, thank you!
