Incredibly laggy sound with VBA GBA

Hey. Installed Retroarch yesterday , tekken 3 for psx worked fine . Had to do adjust some settings for it to work perfectly.

I tried a GBA pokemon game earlier today using one of the VBA cores , and the FPS is surprisingly low … it seems to be stuck at around 35.9 most of the time … which leads the sound to be really buggy.

What settings are the best for my GBA gams to run smoothly ?

Which device are you playing on? GBA is one of the more demanding systems, while PSX requirements are surprisingly light on ARM devices, making it an apples-to-oranges comparison.

Sorry forgot to mention it . That’s very interesting , I assumed gba was easier to run than psx games but apparently not !

My device is an ipod touch 4g 16 gb . the processor is Apple A4 800 MHz and 256 mb of ram if i rememenber correctly.

Ah, yeah, that’s going to be too slow, unfortunately. GBA games are borderline for me on my HTC One (Snapdragon 1.7 ghz). On iOS, I think retina minis are the cutoff, IIRC.

Ah alrighty , thanks for the information . i thought something was wrong with the settings .

I’ll content with psx games then ! thanks for the great app , keep up the good work.

So even in my 4S is not possible to play using VBA-M. The other GBA.emu that is also based on VBA-M have a good performance on my 4S.

Too bad…Retroarch is already far superior in all its shaders and overlays support…

Is there any hope of better performance on VBA-M?

Probably gba.emu uses frameskip. Retroarch doesn’t

Nope frameskip is at 0.

What game are you playing BTW, VBA-M is perfectly fine in RetroArch in my Nexus 5

I did some testing with Pokemon Emerald and FFVI. I imagine that your nexus is faster them my 4S.
