Install retroarch and retroarch aarch64 together on shield tv

Hi I have read that you plan to rename retroarch aarch64 in order to install it with the regular retroarch installed. Is it possible now because it would be great if I can test dolphin on shield tv without desinstall the regular retroarch. Thanks

If you go to buildbot.libretro.com, there’s a “staging” build that has a different name and can coexist. It’s what I’m using.

ok thanks for your confirmation I will try thanks

so I begin to try to install on my shield tv the apps: 2018-07-27-RetroArch_aarch64.apk with xplorer (file manager), but before start, it says me that this app (retroarch aarch64) “will update but my settings will be kept”. so its seems that it will crush my current installtion of the regular retroarch. so I stop before update. could you please confirm me that installing RetroArch_aarch64.apk will create two different retroarch icon on the shield tv screen with all separate folder config between the regular retroarch and retroarch aarch64. thanks for your confirmation. regards

Does the aarch64 version break the other cores or something? I installed it and it seems to have replaced what I already had installed but the version still says 1.7.3 GIT.

*looks for Dolphin core and doesn’t find it in updater via app *

*installs aarch64 nightly *

*looks for Dolphin core and still doesn’t find it there *

I don’t have root access and I also tried previously to throw cores into RetroArch from browser downloads by changing the paths for cores to install but with repeated failures, making it impossible to do so. It was really dumb from the start to have directories default to root-only locations.

Edit: Yep it LIBBING butchers it as I can’t load any cores now!

Edit 2: At least it no longer softlocks on new installs. I have input for menus but unfavourable to my customizations.

Oh yeah, its fun to use a lot of memory, boxart being enabled caused RetroArch to overload the 3GB memory due to listed images displaying previews when I was scrolling to a game to prepare mapping my input again to get N64 stuff to use the correct buttons (which takes forever) of my own choosing.

Edit 3: Never LIBBING mind! N64 cores are borked again! :sob:

Helpful tip for Dolphin core: Make sure RetroArch shaders are disabled (0 pass) and apply core preset for shaders while Dolphin is running so that any time you run a Gamecube/Wii game,it won’t immediately fail and crash like I saw it did once I found out that was the thing crashing it after some messing around.

Do custom GameSettings work properly? The Twilight Princess speedhack is not active as noticed by the outline on maps and performance is particularly slow because of it,though its expected that this fresh Dolphin core would be a tad slow normally anyway until it matures more.

To confirm it,the Twilight Princess speedhack works if you put a properly set up GameSettings ini file with the correct name into RetroArch/saves/User/GameSettings

It helped with performance a good bit. One issue I noticed in TP (Gamecube version) is that shadows are missing chunks on some occasions,at least on OpenGL mode.

Edit: Here is the code for a GZ2E01 ini for anyone with that version. If its wrapping around, you will have to fix the STUPID word-wrap that the post is forcing on it.

sorry I find it using x plorer on the root folder (root needed) thanks

but it will be tricky to configure the right path in the settings of hyperspin android to play with the gamecube wheel.

my bad, Retroarch_Staging.apk is the one i used, not aarch64.
