Have been using DeSmuME for yeeeeeeaaaars now and this is the first I’m hearing of this. Is it true ?

lol no. That sentence is worded ambiguously. What they mean is that “DeSmuME is the original project for DS emulation used by RetroArch and OpenEmu.”
