Is it Time to Ask for a Wii U Port of Retroarch Yet? :)

Oh no :frowning: Sad to hear that, hope that gets figured out eventually! N64 is the emulation I’m looking forward to the most, because the VC is shitty and has bad compatibility.

Of course I’m more than glad that RetroArch gets a WiiU port regardless of that. Thanks for your work

Here’s hoping for the day those roadblocks become highways down the road for Mupen64 :stuck_out_tongue: But all in all, I thank you guys so much for the work on the Wi U!

aliaspider has released a pre-release Snes core of Retroarch (expect bugs)

Quote from aliaspider:

"this is still in a really early stage, but I think it is usable enough to warrant a pre-release. expect bugs and missing features.

this is just the snes9x 2010 core for now, I’ll see if I can get more cores posted in the next days."

Snes9x 2010, dayum it runs amazingly

Still yet to test other cores.

New cores have seriously been added by the hour today:

What a day to be alive as a proud Wii U owner! I’m completely baffled at this level of progression.

Genesis Plus is unfortunately broken, results in black screen, but Snes9x, man it runs extremely well :stuck_out_tongue:

You probably don’t need me to tell you this, but of course all these cores are still a WIP as of now. They will no doubt be optimised further down the line. The fact that we have more than just playable states for some of these at this point is mighty impressive to me already.

That’s really the advantage to using a libretro frontend, be it retroarch or something custom, for a new platform instead of trying to port random standalone emulators. With a few exceptions, you get most of them out of the gate without a lot of work. And, for the ones that don’t work, the path to making it work is usually much shorter/easier than porting a standalone emu.

Don’t get me wrong, what they’ve done out of the box us nothing short of impressive, these are still pre-alpha, so with that said, with Genesis Plus, I’ll simply wait till things are more refined
