I do not remember the gameboy having that type of tiresome flicker. I think the screen flickered much faster, making it less tiresome to watch. Are there other games that are affected?
The difference is probably in the LCD response time. The Game Boy’s screen was very slow to change, so it probably appeared as semi-transparent instead of flickery.
are there any settings in the emulators to eliminate or reduce this issue? Or even setting the refresh rate at 30 hz?
you can try to increase “LCD Response Time” parameter that many lcd shader have.
load a shader that have that feature (ie. /handheld/console-border/dmg.slangp)
then go to
Quick Menu -> Shaders -> Shader parameters
and increase “LCD Response Time”.
You could also append the misc/antiflicker shader.
does not make any difference unfortunately
this reduced the flicker to a tolerable degree, at least not epilepsy inducing, though still annoying. values are 0.78 max. Maybe at 1 it could be reduced like in the original
