Jaguar Core Was Fine Now Does Not Work

The Atari Jaguar core jas been absolutely fine for me, even with shaders and overlays. Now the thing just crashes upon launching roms, even unzipped roms to boot. The last thing I did was check cores and I’m not sure but could have redownloaded the Jaguar core. It’s the only thing I can think of. Nothing has changed with RetroArch. My drivers and all that PC related stuff is the same. It’s the last thing I can think of that the core has been updated as it’s now behaving like it needs bios drivers but the core information says it does not. I’ve tried all manner of drivers from within retroarch and still the same. The core has stopped responding. Any clue or is it just another quirk of this emulator suite?

If you can get us a log, we’ll probably be able to tell more about what’s going on. Launch from a command line with --verbose --menu and it will print any errors to the console window.

Having trouble saving window before retroarch crashes. Is the log saved to file somewhere?

retroarch.exe --menu --verbose >> log.txt 2>&1

That should leave you with a file named log.txt that contains the full output.

Incidentally, have just tried 1.21 and the Jaguar core crashes upon loading rom image in that version too.

I just tried to load it here and it worked fine, though mine is in .j64 format. Can you see if one in that format works for you?

Just tried all formats .jag .j64 and zipped. None work. All crash loading rom. I’ve reinstalled, if you will and setup as new. Downloaded fresh cores. Jaguar core still does not work.

Acting like it’s looking for a bios on rom load

I’m having the same issue. Any fixes for this?

I had this issue, it wasn’t finding the bios for Jaguar, which should be in the RetroArch system directory.

That being said many of the games are very choppy with shaders enabled. Even without shaders some games don’t play great.

I’m running into the same problem. The “ROMs and BIOSes” page doesn’t indicate that a Jaguar BIOS is required. I’d happily put one in the system folder, but knowing the proper name seems important.

What is the proper name for the Atari Jaguar BIOS?

Honestly, Retroarch is a joke… I downloaded Virtual Jaguar 2.1.2 (Win64) and run Rayman without any problems… It works perfectly, except that I cannot use shaders :frowning:

I’m very sorry guys :frowning: It was too stupid for me :frowning: I just was too upset with Jaguar (Win)… also with N64 (android) emulation on 1.2+ (games (ex. Banjo Kazooie, Zelda MM) that works fine (720p/60fps) on 1.0.x, become slow, with sound stutter and crashing even on powerful Tegra 4).

Of course Retroarch is great :slight_smile:
