Japanese PSX Game Doesn't Work

I’ve spent months trying to get this Retroarch program to work.

I’m trying to play this game:

Dragon Ball Z - Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu (Japan)

When I click on the cue file, it just exits the program.

I’m attaching screens with more information about the bios, files, etc.

Which platform/OS are you using and which core? I’m assuming Win64 and mednafen/beetle-psx. If so, I don’t think that core supports APE audio. Try to find one with just a single bin/cue.

We could probably tell more from a log, though.

Here’s what I’ve read but not tested:

Mednafen supports raw, simple storage formats (MS WAV, AIFF/AIFC, AU/SND, etc.), Ogg Vorbis, and MusePack audio files referenced by CUE sheets. MP3 is not supported.

What you can try is to convert the ape audio to ogg using TEncoder/FFmpeg.

Then in the CUE file, replace “.ape” with “.ogg”.https://sourceforge.net/projects/tencoder/

Hello, to have a functional game :

  • Install Monkey’s AudioOpen Monkey’s Audio and switch to decompress mod Add all .ape files, click on Decompress button and delete all .ape after finished

  • Download and unzip WAV to BINMove all new .wav file into WAV to BIN.exe

  • Open the .cue file and replaces any extensions .ape by .bin.
