Japanese psx games on retroarch mac?

Hi, do you guys manage to run psx jap stuff on Retroarch? I don´t get jap images running. Both usa and pal are working neat, but japanese won´t load. It must have something with the bios. What is the bios file i´m supposed to have at the system directory??

Japanese BIOS all end in *00, I think. I would try 5500 first.

This page breaks down each of the BIOS revisions: http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingux-emulation/some-information-about-psx-bios-numbers/

I just can´t understand. I have scph5500.bin on the system directory and it refuses to load any japanese iso.

Could be a problem with the core itself. I don’t have any Japanese ROMs to test, myself, but perhaps someone else can try it.

Maybe. If someone else reads this , please try a japanese game on mednafen-psx- mac.

I successfully run pal and usa, so everything is properly configured, and scph5500.bin is on the system directory.

I don’t own a mac, but the core is loading japanese games fine on linux.

Try double checking that the file name is entirely downcased. At least on linux, it won’t detect the bios if any of the letters are upper case. Otherwise, I was under the impression that with mednafen, you didn’t even necessarily need the correct bios. It’s probably ideal to have the requested bios versions, but you can actually rename any bios and it’ll still load. I just verified this by renaming scph5501.bin to scph5500.bin and it was able to boot a japanese game.

Japanese games are fine for me,
