Libass-9.dll Missing

I just installed the 1.6.3 build of RetroArch (via replacing the 1.6.0 exe files for RetroArch and RetroArch Debug with the appropriate 1.6.3 files), and whenever I try to open the application I get an error message reading “The program can’t start because libass-9.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.” What exactly is “libass-9.dll”, where can I find it, and how do I properly install it?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I’m using Windows 10.

get the redist.7z file and extract this to your retroarch folder overwriting as prompted.

another way of upgrading when there is version differences is to get the Retroarch.7z instead-this should include the necessary dll file(redist).

Finally got around to extracting the redist.7z file and RetroArch’s working just fine; thanks for the help!

Just an add-on as I had the same problem.

In my case my antivirus program was detecting it as dangerous and removing the file automatically. Had to whitelist it and extract from the zip. Then it loaded fine.
