Loading States/Game Saves SNES

Relatively new to RA, but getting the hang of it. My question has to do with save States vs Saves. Many of the games I play on SNES do not have save functions/slots within the game. Let’s use an early Tecmo Super Bowl as an example. On the SNES, you would play it and it would basically autosave periodically if changes were made or Season games were completed. I see that after using SNES9X-Current core in RA and playing TSB, RA creates a .srm file in the SAVES folder. What I’m assuming is that the .srm files are like the autosaves that the original SNES did? As far as say, mid-game saves, that would need to be done with save States. However, it seems like only some of my States will load when using RA:

Load Game does not let me choose which State I want to load, and I’m not sure what State Index does. So if there are several different States in the States folder, it gets quite tricky. If we were to do a season with several human players, what file(s) should we send back and forth? I’m guessing .srm and not a State file? Would there need to be anything else sent? I also see in the SAVES folder on RA, it also creates a .rtc file and a .srm.bsv file for the game. ARe those important? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a handle on proper saving and loading! Thanks JEff
