Mac Retroarch no load MAME ROMs

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with Retroarch. i installed a last version on my Mac, I loaded all BIOS, all core, and updated. When i tried to load the MAME ROMs, retroarch started to analizate the ROMs, when it finished, I didn’t find the Games. If I tried to load another ROMs ( ex. PSX ), it worked. The MAME ROMs is working with another emulator.

Help me please.

Thanks.

If you’re trying to add them to a playlist, we recommend doing a manual scan (with a DAT reference to get human-readable names). The regular scan doesn’t do very well for arcade games for a number of reasons.

Nevertheless, you should still be able to just ‘load content’ and launch them without using a playlist. If that’s not working for you, there’s something else going on that we would need to investigate.

I found how to add MAME games to RetroArch on macOS.

  1. Download the MAME XML database , for example from progettosnaps.net/dats/MAME/. Find the DAT archive for your version — in my case, version 0.139 . Then, place this XML file into your MAME ROMs folder .
  2. In RetroArch , choose Scan / Import MAME ROMs :
  • Go to Import Content → Manual Scan
  • Content Directory → select your ROMs folder
  • System Name → choose
  • Custom System Name → enter MAME
  • Scan Inside Archives → set to OFF
  • Arcade DAT File → select the MAME XML database you downloaded earlier
  • Arcade DAT Filter → set to ON
  • Start the scan.

After this, you’ll find a new playlist called MAME .

All your MAME ROMs must be in ZIP archives , and you must place all the required BIOS files into RetroArch’s system folder — on macOS, this folder is located at: /Users/mrsmith/Documents/RetroArch/system
