MAME 8way Right Stick issue

Just trying to setup vector game Black Widow (bwidow)

I cant seem to get mame to register 8ways on either Shield TV on my mobile with overlay.

I bound inputs in mame menu input (this machine) for Right Stick/UP, Down, Left, Right with my right stick x/y axis. The game only registers diagonal controls (so 4ways) If i bind those inputs again with diagonal presses mame then registers left/right/up/down when I move the stick to diagonal positions.

So basically its only registering 4ways and diagonals is messed up witb UPLR

Anyone know of a fix? Or even a pointer on what to change

Found a fix from another user.

Set Digital to analogue to right stick in Quick Menu-Controls

Then bind Dpad to right stick in Mame tab menu.
