MAME with Real-Time REWIND option

LibRetro - RetroArch The best emulator EVER!

Why is the best? 1. MULTI SHADER OPTION 2. REAL TIME REWIND OPTION 3. MULTI PLATAFORM

We are waiting for a MAME with rewind function from MAME 2003 (0.78)

It’s time to get back the Rewind option for MAME. No matter that it is slow, we need this option.

Stucked on mame 0.78 romset for years… All the people that I’ve talked about Retroarch with mame, they say the same thing: Does not work the rewind

And now the MAME 2003 is removed form the cores list.Leaving to MAME officially without rewind support

We open this thread to make a joint request to include rewind

PLEASE, PLEASE and PLEASE MAME is sad because it does not rewind

We want to congratulate the developers for the excellent work done! Many thanks to all the Libretro Retroarch developers

Rewind needs savestates, and savestates in MAME have never been stable enough. We don’t have serialization on the MAME cores so I don’t think it will happen anytime soon.

It is not easy, because otherwise they would have already done so, but surely they can get it as they did in mame 2003 0.78

We have been waiting for many years, but surely someday they will surprise us!

annotations for a future development of mame rewind:

currently in some games when the rewind option is enabled when loading the game, retroarch crashes, if you disable rewind and load the game then activate the rewind after loading the game, rewind Works perfect. this is a problem trying to save the game when it is loading. or starting the emulation if when the rewind is activated, waits for a second to start saving states, the game dont crash.

the some problem are when activate the option “auto load state” when starts the game, it says error loading, but it can be load if wait a second, if you save and load in manual mode it works perfect. i think this current problem with mame 0.78 is easy to solve start saving or loading states waiting a little time after the rom load and passes the sandard waning of mame “type OK or move joystick left and right”. i hope this information can help to a future mame rewind development.

Sorry my english is not very good.

After some testing with MAME 0.78 Core, the problem is with retroarch 1.2, version 1.0 works perfect with the rewind activated from the beginning. With the 1.2 crash when load some games if the rewind is activated.

I don’t think that it’s an easy thing to impliment into a core. MAME works differently

You should try FBA though, it covers about 70% of MAME material and supports rewind without problems whatsoever
