So, I’ve been out of the loop for quite some time… Decided to check out recent RA builds and found a problem with controls.
A few versions back (1.6 and older) it was possible to make shortcuts like map 3 Punches to LT or buttons ABCD to RB (it was pretty useful in games like Samurai Shodown 5 and Marvel vs). And I cannot find it anywhere in the new 1.7.7

I believe that was a function of the core (FBNeo) rather than of RetroArch itself.
It was used in all versions of FBA. So, was it removed?
I believe so, yes. I believe it was because of the feeling that button macros don’t belong in the core but rather in the frontend, which is true, but I understand that it doesn’t solve the fact that they’re not available in any form anymore.

Pardon the ignorance, but what does it mean for them to be in the frontend? Is it possible to add them ourselves?
