MESS or MAME?

Hello,

Now that MESS has been folded into MAME, should I use the MESS or MAME cores for systems such as the Atari 5200?

Also, I noticed that there are four different MAME cores available for download (MAME2014, MAME2000, etc.). What is the difference between each of them?

Mess for home systems like the 5200, Mame for arcade.

Then you have mame_libretro.dll which is the only version that was compiled past the fusion of both and is the most recent. I think that’s the “Arcade (MAME)” in the core updater list if I’m not wrong.
