mGBA core update

As requested, I compiled and built the gameboy advance emulator mGBA for RA frontend 1.0.0.2 and more new 1.3.0. Feel free to test and share any issues.

Both working! Zipped files, and up to 32MB games tested (NTSC Wii)

Did you test mother 3 rom translated to english? Does it really work? Please confirm.

Thanks a lot Retro (and ofc RetroArch devs team ) ! I won’t be home for another 2 weeks or so, but can’t wait to try it out  !

Thank you so much!

Although all my browsers say that this file contails viruses, lol.

Where can I read more about RA 1.3 Wii?

Thanks man, really appreciate this. mGBA is amazing on the Wii.

Large roms such as Drill Dozer and Mother 3 don’t seem to work though.

Yeah, sadly… 32 mb roms are not working with the stable mgba core, however, there’s a workaround to make them load, but at the same time, we lose compatibility with the small roms (16mb, 8mb, 4mb, etc). At this point is kind of awkward to use two instances of mgba core, one for games below 32 mb and another for those large roms, if people are fine with it I can compile it again with the most recent changes from github.

Are you talking about the mGBA libretro core or the standalone version?

Yes, the mGBA libretro core.

So the new version will have issues with small roms? Is this gonna be fixed later of we have to use both version everytime?

I tried to fix it with no good results. I’m sure it’ll be fixed sooner or later, maybe endrift can help us.

Can you explain what’s going on with small vs big roms?

After loading a rom (i.e metroid zero mission - 8mb rom) the screen remains white and nothing happens, no lock up, the rgui it’s still accessible. With another roms, specially 16 mb roms the audio got corrupted with the same white screen or a dsi code dump triggers right after the game was loaded.

Is this a libretro core exclusive bug or is mgba Wii in the same boat?

Try with the official nightly for Wii, mgba core included. http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/nintendo/wii/
