Mupen64plus absent from "Core Update" menu

When I open up the “core updater” window there’s no option to add/update the mupen64plus core. Has anyone else run into this issue? Can I manual install the N64 core?

the PPSSPP is not on there too…i would like it on there because it work work on playing eboot files while the actual ppspp only plays psp only not eboot psx conversions

That’s what I assume. That they’re updating the mupen64plus.dylib, hence why it’s absent. I need to play Zelda dammit. Lol

If there’s a way to manually add the mupen64plus.dylib please give me a tutorial.

Ok download the link below and unzip it. After that put it inside this cores folder (/var/mobile/Documents/RetroArch/cores). Done. http://www.mediafire.com/download/4t7jjgrwzaiotjj/mupen64plus_libretro_ios.dylib.zip for iOS 8

I don’t know it’s not really clear, if it’s for iOS or OSX. lets wait and see his respond.

I just checked OSX version has all the cores including psp, psx, and n64.

Thankful for the replies everyone! To clarify, I’m on iOS 9.1.

Just tried. Retroarch crashes upon loading a rom. :frowning:

MrSevenX: I tried what you suggested. Retroarch crashes when I attempt to load a rom. :frowning:

Your jailbreak doesn’t support dyranec so I edited the config file from dyranec to interpreter. check if it works with you.

download and unzip the config file then drop into this directory (/var/mobile/Documents/RetroArch/config)

close Retroarch completely then run it again.

if it also doesn’t work try this core http://www.mediafire.com/download/o9x1d57lf9n42ao/mupen64plus_libretro_ios.dylib2.zip

So I manually placed the mupen core into documents/retroarch/cores and I placed the config file into documents/retroarch/config. Restarted the retroarch app and when I try to open a rom it instantly crashes still. There’s no “flicker” of the game loading then crashing, it’s an instant crash. Also, when I try to load the mupen64plus core, retroarch still displays (no core). Any thoughts?

Update: the new core you just uploaded, when selected, finally displays in retroarch (mupen64plus 2.0-rc2). But it still crashes when I select a rom. However there is a “flicker” this time.

then try to delete the config file you just put it and try again

I went ahead with a fresh install of retroarch. Manually added the mupen core you provided and still the same results. A slight flicker and a crash. No retroarch-core-options.cfg is created after the crash. Is there an older version of retroarch that is more stable? Or am I sol?

I had n64 running on non-jailbroken iOS9 installed using the Xcode and signed the cores as well.Try new core to test you never used. http://www.mediafire.com/download/4si4tri0vl9m5wk/mupen64plus_libretro_ios.dylib3.zip for ios9

Hallelujah! That last core starts right up and loads the rom like a charm. Thanks a million MrSeven X. I can now re-visit my childhood.

no problem so I will keep the core aside for iOS 9 users

Props to Mrseven. First link worked like a charm for me on iOS 8. Looking forward to ppsspp and muphen64 showing up in my core updater again.

Excellent. I recently had to blow away my retroarch install to get it running again on JB iOS 9.0.2, and I was looking for a mupen64 core. I tried that last one from Mr Seven X and it worked like a charm. Thanks for that! Also, where can one find the cores? I can’t seem to find iOS mupen cores. Are you compiling them yourselves?

I only compile cores when I use them for non-jailbroken devices. To find the cores go Retroarch app > Online Updater > core Updater. Most the cores are there except the N64 core. Or you can download them from this link http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/apple/ios9/latest/ or all together http://www.mediafire.com/download/ft0any4bhb72gf2/Cores+for+ios9.zip
