Mupen64plus crashing

For a few days now I’ve been wanting to get my old laptop to run some N64 games with the Mupen64plus core. They run well on my main desktop PC, but I can’t for the life of me get them to work on this one (other cores work properly; haven’t tested the PSX mednafen core yet). As soon as I try to load a game, it gives me the “has stopped working” message. The core itself loads fine.

I tried multiple RetroArch builds to no avail. Also tried updating the core through the auto updater, and tried experimenting with various options in the retroarch-core-options.cfg file (namely mupen64-cpucore, mupen64-gfxplugin and mupen64-gfxplugin-accuracy). If it helps, I’m using the d3d video driver (gl crashes RetroArch upon startup for some reason. Again, it’s a pretty old machine)

Libretro-gl cores like mupen and PPSSPP can’t run on d3d, unfortunately, only gl. So, you’d have to figure out why gl is crashing and correct that.
