Hi OrionsAngel

Just to say a huge thank you for the amazing bezels. It’s been my reason for joining the forum!

If you are happy to take requests, please can you make a Future Spy bezel which is one of my personal favorites.

Thanks & keep up the good work!

Thank you. I appreciate the kind words. As for your request? You mean like this…

 It’ll be in part 25.

Hello and thank you for your amazing work.

Do you mind if I take your work and add it to an overlay compilation I’m currently doing ? (it’s available on GitHub)

Thank you !

I don’t mind as long as you credit me. Use, Orionsangel. Send me the link afterward.

You’re welcome. Unfortunately Future Spy doesn’t have an official bezel. I had to create one from scratch. I’m glad you like it!

Obviously I’m crediting everyone I pick overlays from
Let me know if the credits are enough for you. I can improve the credits, or if you’re not satisfied, remove your overlays entirely.

For now I have only downloaded a bunch of packs and I’m trying to find some time to start creating the proper config files for retropie : https://github.com/cosmo0/retropie-arcade-overlays

Thank you very much

No, it’s all good. That’s awesome!

Thanks, but I can’t do anything without people like you making awesome art and sharing it

I’m trying to finish my “systems” overlays pack but I need to get approval from my sources before I spam the forums with the link

Thank you. Is it possible to add a link to my youtube channel?

Hey Orion; I just checked some of John’s work and discovered that one of the things he does that increases the immersion in the bezels is the front art reflection in the arcades sides, so I tinkered with some of those, to see if I could get the same result in just a couple steps (easily batched if needed).

I am sharing below the quick steps to achieve this, in case you find it useful for your project. If you do not, or you do not like the addition of this effect, please disregard

In this example I worked with Double Dragon 2.

Here is a nude background of the arcade:

You can paste the game’s bezel, and darken/shadow its sides a little bit so it gains depth:

Then copy their sides separately, flip them horizontaly, and place them with a tiny margin between:

You can then trim them by the shape of the black section of the arcade sides (do not include the rubber bands), and apply to them a 30% opacity, and a 8pt Glaussian blur:

Obviously it depends on each bezel, as sizes are different (and I know that you are trying to approach the full bezel display), but in case some bezels have the same proportions (or their negative space is the same), the above steps can be scripted as a PS action to batch multiple front panels at the same time.

Ok, my wall of nonesense ends here

Cheers and keep rocking those realistic bezels!

OMG Brian - this is brilliant. I am doing some own bezels on Github, with the ain to render them platform-independent (I.e. wirhout hlsl inis), and this hint is something to consider. I will never be able to match Orion‘s massive output…

That looks nice. I’ve actually done that before, but with the strips I’m using now they don’t need reflection. I might do this again though. I like tinkering. John’s newer bezels look great obviously, but too clean and cartoony for my taste. I want photographic realism. I prefer his earlier work. It’s what inspired me to start making bezels. I think it’s good though that we all create different types of bezels and give them our own personal touches. We have diversity. My main concern though is the screen size. Anything else you can go back and change. It’s frustrating because I wanna fit most of the bezel artwork but then you have to sacrifice either the bezel art or the screen size.

Hey guys. There’s a small update to my more recent bezels I made. It’s nothing too big but I think it adds a little to the realism. I added the dirty space between the strip and the bezel. There’s an example below with Bad Dudes. I wasn’t adding that detail back then, but now I am and I wanted the older ones to match the newer ones. It’s really a preference though if you wanna use them or not with this tiny update. There’s no cfg with these files. You’ll have to set those yourself if you don’t already have them. Also I updated the Caveman Ninja bezel. I never liked how small the screen was and now I’m happy with it.

Caveman Ninja Tab Settings.

I just added an optional white strip side panel version of Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition. I’ve seen some actual SF2CE cabinets have this white strip. If you want this exclusive bezel you’ll have to download the zip file again.

You’re right, it gives a nice touch  I like the added detail.
