N64: Make Z button function as tap to turn on/off?

Several games are unplayable due to needing to hold Z while playing, such as Z targeting in Ocarina or the talon trot in Banjo Kazooie. Can I make the Z button function as an on off switch instead?

You really should use an actual controller for N64 emulation, touch screens just aren’t good enough for this.

Regarding the Zelda games, you can choose between “Switch” and "Hold " in the Options menu which might help a bit.

Thanks for the Zelda tip! That solves the problem for that game.

I thought I’d hate touch screen controls for N64 but it’s working surprisingly well. On an iPad I have plenty of room for the buttons. The one big problem right now is, as I described, having to hold Z or R while continuing to have to move and shoot/jump. Some games don’t require this, and they play fine. For example, I just beat Diddy Kong racing entirely with touch controls, and that’s a tough game! Adding an option to tap Z/R to turn it on and off would make all games playable on a touch screen I think.
