NES Cores Lagging

So the Nestopia Core was working fine until one day the games were randomly lagging. I tried a fresh install, and that did nothing, I tried every other NES core, and ran in to similar issues. Here are a few more facts: I am running Windows 10 64 bit. I have a R9 280x and a Core i5-3570. I have not recently upgraded my hardware and I have all of the latest driver updates. I tried using both RetroArch 1.6 and 1.6.1, both had the exact same issues. Other Cores, like the Mupen64 core for example, did not have any new issues.

Try setting your power settings to “max performance”

Sorry, I just figured out the issue. I have an older graphics card and was using a 4k display at the time. My graphics card only supported up to a 1.4 hdmi, so I was unable to hit a full 60hz. The reason that I was lagging in the NES was because Retroarch automatically sets the refresh rate to be 60hz, so games on NES lagged. I think the reason that the N64 games did not lag was because almost every game released on the N64, other than a select few, could reach 60fps, in fact, some did not even reach 30fps. So I guess if I want to play NES games I will need to stick with a 1080p resolution until I get a graphics card that can support 60hz.
