Nestopia Core for NES

I have a pretty stout PC for my arcade setup (i think at least) I7 6700 32 GB Ram Nvidia Gforce GT 710 graphics card Cheap 5.1 surround card Windows 7 Pro

All im running are NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and MAME. When running NES games with the Nestopia core, if there is a lot of action on the screen it slows down quite a bit. Anyone have an idea how i can remedy this? Video settings in the core? different core? Any help would be appreciated

NES had lots of slowdown on real hardware the core emulates that. Do you have reason to believe that’s not what’s happening here?

Got ya, I guess I don’t remember that as a child. I was playing Kid Icarus and with quite a few baddies on the screen it was very slow.

Aside from from what @hunterk said, there are options to OC your console on some cores. Try and see if that helps. On Nestopia it’s called CPU Speed (Overclock). Try 2x or higher. Obviously there are downsides to this since some games rely on slowdown or may even glitch/crash on anything other than 1x (original)
