It logs in and says I have x out of y achievements unlocked but I can’t unlock any. For example picking up a mushroom for the first time in SMB1 is supposed to unlock one but nothing happens. SNES9x games are unlocking achievements fine with the same configuration though. On Android if that makes every difference.

Use FCEUmm instead.
Oh that’s weird. I just assumed that the message popping up about logging into RetroAchievements meant that core was supported.
Edit: Yep, guess I’m using FCEUM then.
