Netplay Issue 1.5.0

Hello basically i have never got netplay to work with my friend, my router is definately UPNP supported, i host he tries to connect with my ip address.

Tried both my public and my private which is get off ipconfig, tried two cores “mupen64plus” with “mario kart 64 usa” both using same version of retroarch and the rom, he enters my ip address sometimes it says "failed to initialise netplay or it will say nothing and we don’t connect at all.

Also tried snex9x core with street fighter both same versions same problem, i have never had any luck connecting over netplay not on older versions and not on this latest 1.5.0 with UPNP support. If anyone has any tips of something i could try be a great help because really want to get this working thanks.

You can try setting up Netplay the way I do as long as you don’t mind running Hamachi, Download and Install Hamachi, and the person who is going to Host the Netplay will create a Network within Hamachi and then tell your friend the info needed to connect to your virtual Network, Once that’s done you and your friend need to go into RetroArch and go to the ’ Settings ’ Tab, scroll down towards the bottom and set the " Netplay TCP Port " to 12975 ( Hamachi’s Port ) and the host can leave " Server Address " Blank but your friend needs to enter your Hamachi IPv4 Address into the " Server Address " area, next scroll down inside the settings for netplay until you reach " Netplay Check Frames " and both of you set this to 60 and now, load up a game in SNES and then open up the overlay menu and click the game > Netplay > Start Netplay host and your friend should boot up the same game > Overlay menu > Netplay > Connect to Netplay host. Sorry to bump this, but I am having similar problems. In version 1.4.1, me and a friend played Super Mario World and Gradius 3 without a problem. Fast forward to now, and we have version 1.5.0, and we tried to play some games again, but it keeps saying “Failed to Initialize Netplay”. My port is still forwarded and everything is set correctly in RetroArch, so I have absolutely no idea what the problem is. I should also mention that I do not use or want Hamachi. Can anyone help?

You can try the MITM server option under netplay settings to see if that works out.

hello everyone, am sorry for bumping this thread again, but am having the same problem here, i can’t put a static ip so i can’t forward the ports for retroarch, so we tried the hamachi way, i created the network, he joined we both went to retroarch and in settings we put the mitm relay server to on and created the room, when he tried to get in my game it said that i was connected to NICK (not his username) but we weren’t connected are there additional steps to do for the mitm to work?

am using 1.6.9 both using same cores same retro arch and same roms
