Nightly to usable format

So I noticed there is no sticky on how to use any of the nightly builds on buildbot. As in how to take the nightly zip files and get them to a usable deb file format. What’s the process? How are you guys using those zip archives

I want to know as well. TIA or can someone please upload the latest nightly build for ios. I have been dying to play psx games on my iphone 6 plus but the screen and controller buttons are all on the lower left of the screen. Ive heard that the latest nightly builds fixed this issue regarding the iphone 6 plus resolution. Thanks again

There are a couple builds already compiled floating around that fix that issue.

Could you give me a link? I tried searching for it but I cant find one. Thanks

Could also really do with an already compiled and usable version to download. Can someone PLEASE provide? Would be such a big help. Annoying it can’t be provided on the page somewhere as it’s in HIGH demand by 6+ users like myself.

Yes please. Anyone? Thanks

Hi there,

I don’t know a way to create a deb from the zip, however I will tell you what I did in order to have a working nightly retroarch version in iOS:

Not an straightforward process but I think is not that difficult at all.

Obviously this will work on jailbreaked devices only.

  1. Install any other version of Retroarch (use any deb you have on hand).
  2. As this is outdated, use ifunbox and get into the RetroArch folder and delete all files. (you can keep shaders as they are not included in the zip version)
  3. Unzip the latest nightly version into a folder (in your PC) and replace the file I’m attaching in this post (unzipped of course). (Also, include any other core you like (download and unzip) and its info file (for each core)).
  4. Copy all files into the already existing RetroArch folder in your device.
  5. Change permission of ALL files to: 0644 and ensure the user is "root " and group is “wheel” (or mobile, same thing but all the same group and user)
  6. Change permission of the RetroArch file within the RetroArch folder (do not change the permission to the folder!!) to 0755.

If you did right, just respring and you may be able to run the new version of RetroArch.

Hope this helps you.

download this deb 14/04/2015 (contain latest fixes for today) https://mega.co.nz/#!95hkCAxK!uyVYrOFblUhKGk8oOhBi0Nb6jVaYSyTydh6bKkkL2U0

after install if the icon not appear in springboard, reinstall any tweak in cydia like bytafont 2

now open the emulator for few second then close.

download all from from here (includind info folder) http://buildbot.libretro.com/assets/frontend/

extract all the zipped folders and copy them to the corresponding folder in var/mobile/documents/

download all cores http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/ios/latest/

then unzip all cores and copy to var/mobile/documents/modules/

now open the emulator and touch the resume button, this make to appear the rgui menu, here you can configure anything.

enjoy!

Tried brujo5’s method but the deb just wont install. So I did netux79’s method and everything seems to be working alright. Do I have to replace the info.plist everytime I install the latest nightly build?

Thanks brujo and netux. Now I can play xenogears again wherever Im at.

No, the great thing about what I show you is that now every time you want the latest version you only have to replace the RetroArch file with the one that comes in the zip. All other files are a basic structure and dont change very often. You don’t even need to set its permission again (well if you remove it and add it again the permission will be lost and you have to set them again, so just drag&drop and replace directly in ifunbox)

The info.plist in the zip comes encrypted, but it’s needed decrypted by iOS (the decryp is normally done by the deb engine which we are not using here at all) so the easiest way is to simply overwrite it with a decrypted version.

Here an New build https://mega.co.nz/#!45oSxKqL!P9T80G4VpcFw3QmRz3vuCNbUvxT2bjZCjnSG0i5_YU8

In mobile terminal type or use ifile su alpine chmod -r 777 /Applications/RetroArch2.app

Mupen64 fix here https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/1464#issuecomment-93505691

Thanks Netux. I tried using the latest mupen64 in buildbot. Sounds still stopped after a couple of seconds. Im playing LOZ ocarina of time

Sound working fine in mupen64 for me.

The only thing I can ever get to work is vba next. Psx , n64 they all crash or freeze up. The per core configuration still doesn’t seem to save per core. My overlays always go back to gba regardless if I choose psx interpreter or not.

delete your old config. inside var/mobile/documents/.retroarch
