No Mess core?

Hey everyone,

So I’m trying to setup the following systems:

Amstrad GX4000 Atari 5200 ColecoVision Mattel Intellivision Phillips CD-i

My understanding is that these systems all rely on the “mess_libretro.dll” core.

However… I can’t seem to find this core anywhere, it’s like it doesn’t exist, or I’m blind and stupid lol I did manage to find a “mess2014_libretro.dll” but using this in it’s place 'causes insta crash…

Mame/mess is the bane of my emulation existence… (don’t even get me started on the stand-alone’s dinput issues…) so I’m hoping someone can tell me what I’m doing wrong, or give me a suggestion for an alternate core… or even an alternate emulator…

I believe MAME and MESS are merged in the git core.

Well I tried renaming mame_libretro.dll to mess_libretro.dll and it at least starts now, but it’s just a black screen. If I hit F1 to go to the menu it works, but when I come back it’s just a scrambled image of colors.

Is the mame_libretro.dll not the “git core” you mentioned?

It is. It should be huge (like 100+ MB). My guess is that there’s something up with your configuration (there are a number of threads about it on the forum). MESS is a real hassle to get working in RetroArch.

Maybe you could try and track an older mess_libretro.dll core.
