"One or more firmware files are missing"

Just got my dedicated system fully configured and were going to start playing, when I ran into a pretty serious bug:

  1. Start SNES game from playlist.
  2. Go to RetroArch menu and close the game.
  3. Start NES game from playlist.
  4. Go to RetroArch menu and close the game.
  5. Now, try to launch any game (from playlist or history list) and nothing will happen except a yellow text in the bottom left saying “One or more firmware files are missing”.

I’m using the latest version from Ubuntu PPA (testing, not stable), which is 1.3.6+r481~51~ubuntu16.10.1. The Windows nightly from Nov 28 had the same issue, but the Dec 2 nightly doesn’t.

How often is the version in the testing PPA updated? It’s currently pretty much unusable…

you can disable firmware check from “cores” sub-menu-check if your version has that

The PPA uses recipes, so it should be updated daily at least.

I think you can also bypass the firmware checking by using ‘load content and detect core’.

It’s definitely not in sync with the Windows nightly. I just checked the latest Windows nightly and found a setting in the Core sub-menu to disable firmware check (thanks wertz), but that setting is nowhere to be found in the Ubuntu PPA testing version.

EDIT: I’ll check the system again. I may have made a mistake when trying to update… :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep, I had screwed up at few settings that prevented the update. Sorry about that. I’m now on the latest build and it has fixed the issue!

Thanks guys, now I’m off to acutally play some games.
