Options -> remapping for player 2 controls?

Hi all, I’m trying to use Retroarch to play Spectrum games (via the Fuse core).

It’s a bit of a learning curve but all is going well so far when it comes to one player.

I’ve set up the controls to reflect my cab and, with a combination of the keyboard overlay, I seem to be able to play quite a few games directly through my cabinet which is brilliant!!

I just wondered if it’s possible to ‘map’ player 2 controls like you can do with player 1 controls (via the Quick Menu – Options menu) ??

Many thanks for all your help

If it’s through the core options, I don’t think so. You can change some things through quick menu > controls, but not the core option mappings.

Thanks Hunter.

Yep,it seems (and, again, I’m just learning this so might be wrong) that I can tell Retroarch what my ‘core’ cabinet controls are via the “Main” input controls menu (or via editing retroarch.cfg directly).

I can then move those keys to any ‘virtual’ button through the Quick Menu - Controls editor and save that configuration for a specific game (or core - but, in my case, I’m just using a specific Retroarch install only for Fuse to make things easier for me).

I can also map any of my Main Control keys to also press another key through Quick Menu - Options. However, those mapping options only show one set of controls for Player 1 (up/down/a/b/x/y/left shoulder etc).

Assuming my above assumptions are the correct way to configure Retroarch controls then it seems strange that I can’t also map a second controller to alternative keys via the Quick Menu - Options menu? But I just wondered if this is a current limitation or whether I’m missing switching some other option on?

Thanks

I believe it would require FUSE maintainer to add a duplicate set of core options for P2. I’m not sure that’s something they want to do, but you could try making a request at the fuse-libretro github repo: https://github.com/libretro/fuse-libretro/

Now that we have the ability to hide core options behind “categories”, it wouldn’t make so much of a mess out of that menu to just have a category for ‘P2 controls’ or whatever

Okay, thanks for the info. I’ll ask them and see what they say. The Fuse core is awesome and regardless of whether they add the P2 stuff, they’ve still been putting a massive smile on my face playing some of my old favourites
