Pcsx2 and dolphin crash to desktop after failing to load rom

Hello again, I’m new so please bear with me if I use the wrong nomenclature or what I’m trying to convey doesn’t come out right. I searched and could not find a thread on this problem. I have all of my bios files in the system folder and the directory pointed at it, and when I go into desktop mode it shows that the bios are present. Everything from PSP and PS1 down works as it should and I get no errors. I see that pcsx2 is in alpha so maybe that’s the problem with that? I have tried multiple roms from various sources and none of them work. I even tried dumping a physical copy of THPS and it wouldn’t dump or run. I’m not really sure what I’m doing wrong.

I downloaded a standalone pcsx2 and LaunchBox and I was able to get the games to load and play, however rather poorly (may be my computer though, it’s a Dell 9020 MT 4th gen i5 4590 and Intel graphics, I do plan on upgrading). The version of RetroArch I have is updated to 1.10.0 I would really like to keep everything in RetroArch and not have to have LaunchBox. Thanks in advance for any replies and/or help.

both pcsx2-libretro and dolphin-libretro need the msvc++ runtime installed. Could be that.

does it matter the version?

I believe the latest one is fine.

OK, I have 2013 and 2015-19 , is there a particular folder I need to put it in?

Should work in your RetroArch directory, but I think you’re usually better off actually installing it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Thank you for the link, I uninstalled the versions I had and will try a fresh file. So just put them in the directory under video filters?

What file in the directory does RetroArch pull them from?

you’re also running a game that’s in a 7zip archive. Optical discs have to be un-archived.

OK I will try to un-archive it, do you see anything else wrong? The Gamecube file look to be in the proper format?

GLCORE also works I found and that what I normally use

GameCube\Need for Speed - Most Wanted.7z#Need for Speed - Most Wanted.iso

that looks to be 7zipped, as well. The only other suggestion I have is make sure rewind and runahead are off (they are by default but if you turned them on for some reason, turn them off for these cores).

I extracted those files with 7zip, but it didn’t unzip them. I have now unzipped the files and the games have both launched, thank you very much for the help, you’re top notch!
