Was wondering if it would be possible to Port HBMAME to RetroArch? Basically is a Arcade Emu for all the Rom Hacks that do not get put into the Normal MAME Builds
It would probably be easier to apply the patches that differentiate it from normal MAME to the mame-libretro sources.
Would need Instructions on how to do that. Kind of a Noob. LOL
Why not use FBA instead?
Most of those Roms wont work with FBA
Edit: Most are Boss Hacks or others like SF2:CE Sheng Long v004 Hack. But there is another that wont work for any of them when it should work in FBA. Rom is sf2sl73a.zip - Street Fighter 2’: CE Sheng Long v7.3a others are sf2pun.zip - Street Fighter 2’: CE Punishment Edition sfa2h.zip - Boss Hack - Press Start on certain Fighters in a specific amount of times to get the Alt of them like Shin Akuma or E. Ryu But also there are tons of other Rom Hacks that would not fit under FBA since they are from different Boards/Developers like MK (Projectile Insanity) or even UMK2TE
Necro alert: Would be nice to have an HBMAME core to run my Arcade Hacks in retroarch
There is a hbmame core : https://github.com/libretro/hbmame-libretro
FBNeo also supports romhacks, including some unsupported by hbmame.
Indeed, I have a few favorites, such as Final Fight 30th Anniversary, which allows for 3 simultaneous players, bonus colors and more. It’s a very well made hack. A few more crazy ones for Street Fighter II CE also works really well on FBN.
my system is unable to perform the makefile command line thing they tell you to do there.
finally tracked down the old core.

The HBMAME core was updated recently to the latest 0.288 version. The old core backup posted above seem to be from 0.220 so quite a while back, from around 2020. You can get it normally via the core downloader.
Obviously, it’s using HBMAME sets. Right now, the core seems to use standard MAME’s cfg and such folders, not its own config folder -even though it has its own filename (hbmame_libretro.dll) so keep that in mind.
Vs. Urban Champion using the hbmame core

What Systems is the Core available for? Linux, Win, Android?
Well it’s certainly available at least for Windows as that’s what I’m on. Haven’t tested on other platforms. Judging by the github, I think there’s currently attempts at making it available for Android as well but it’s not yet available for that platform.
Keep in mind, there was an old HBMAME core at one point but it was pretty much abandoned for more than 6 years at this point, so this is basically a new core or complete rebase of the old one afaik. This new one is up-to-date with HBMAME standalone.
