Problems loading NeoGeo dumps

Hello,

I’m trying to use Retroarch (both the 32 and 64-bit versions) to run NeoGeo games. I have my BIOS files (in neogeo.zip) in the same directory as my ROMs. Whenever I try to run a game using the FBA (Final Burn Alpha) core I receive the following error:

RetroArch: [libretro INFO] :: [FBA] Archive: alpham2 (this will change depending on the ROM I'm trying to load)
RetroArch: [libretro INFO] :: [FBA] Archive: neogeo
RetroArch [ERROR] :: [libretro ERROR] :: [FBA] ROM index 128 was not found ... CRC: 0x91b64be3
RetroArch [ERROR] :: Failed to load game.
RetroArch [ERROR] :: rarch_main_init_wrap() failed.

It doesn’t seem to matter what ROM I try to load, I keep getting the same CRC error.

I know these dumps work because I am able to load them in other emulators like Winkawaks or MAME. Trying the MAME core in Retroarch yields different errors.

Am I doing something wrong? Is my ROM set incompatible somehow with Retroarch? What can I do?

I appreciate any help!

Probably either wrong ROMset revision and/or wrong BIOS revision. FBA uses a specific ROMset that largely overlaps with MAME, but I would recommend finding exactly the ROMset it expects. If you select the FBA core and run any ROM then go into RGUI, it will tell you the FBA version down at the bottom of the main screen (‘FB Alpha v0.2.97.30’ or something like that). Do a google search for that plus ‘romset’ and see if those treat you any better.

Thank you, hunterk.

I figured it was probably an issue with the ROM set that I have currently, so I’ll poke around and see if I can find something compatible. I am using the FBA core that you mentioned - 0.2.97.30.
