Problems Setting Up Dual Analog Control to Play Ape Escape

Hi guys, kind of new to emulation so apologies if I am missing something obvious.

Basically, I am having an issue getting RetroArch to detect that I am using a dual analog controller. This is indicated by Ape Escape showing the screen asking to plug in a dual analog controller and the sticks subsequently not working. When the game starts all other buttons work and I have not noticed any glitches though based on my vague memory of the game. Joypad works fine for other emulators.

I have set the device to joypad w/ dual analog in the input settings and configured the controls manually. Retroarch logged my stick inputs when i configured them. I’m not sure what else to do,

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

You’re using an outdated version I guess. Check core options, there might be a core option to enable dual shock. In new builds you select your emulated controller in input settings (joypad / joypad w/ analog are replaced with PS1 pad / Dualshock in current versions)

hmm. I got this version from the downloads page on this site.

Is 1.0.0.2 not the current version?

should still work with core options. It’s the current release but it’s over 6 months old

Hah, you answered just as I managed to fix it.

For those that came here through google or something I use the september 2014 build I found here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/91sakv0qdyxjx9f/cGOfV7ZOKd.

More importantly I found an option called per-core configuration in general settings turned that on, the opened the menu when the game was running and the option to set the device to dualshock was available.
