PS1 game not loading and core disappears

Hi, Just a bit lost and not sure where to go from here.

The PS1 game is located in the following folder structure on desktop to test:

Desktop > New folder > x-files,the(disc_1).BIN

Desktop > New folder > x-files,the(disc_2).BIN

Desktop > New folder > x-files,the(disc_3).BIN

Desktop > New folder > x-files,the(disc_4).BIN

  1. Open retroarch.
  2. Downloaded the PS1 emulator core (Beetle HW)
  3. Load the Beetle HW core. And it shows loaded in left bottom of screen
  4. Go to load content and point to x-files,the(disc_1).BIN and select it.

Retroarch suddenly asks me to choose the core again. However, the Beetle HW core is now not longer in the list to select but it does show to be loaded in the bottom left of screen .

This get me stuck, as I dont see any options to start the game.

I also tried loading content first but still no Beetle HW core in the list.

Bios files are saved in retroarch system folder

What am I missing?

Thanks for the assistance.

Beetle-PSX can’t load bin files without a cue, so when you try to load the bin, RetroArch is offering you other cores to open it because Beetle-PSX isn’t able to do it. Choose the cue instead and you should be fine.

You can also get cue files from redump.org. The cues aren’t copyrighted, so you can just download them (or generate them, as you’ve found).

thanks.

i was able to easily create one with notepad and it started the game, but with problems as descibed in other post.
