Psx pad / L2 R2 buttons

Hi there,

When I am playing psx games on retroarch, I don’t have access to the L2/R2 buttons. In a game I have (Little Big Adventure), you have to constantly change the status of the character using L1/R1/L2/R2 to perform various tasks. In ace combat too, you need the 4 buttons.

Do you guys happen to know how I can solve this ? I have been looking up in the in-built help and pdfs, but I can’t find anything.

Cheers

You can map the inputs to other things, create a new overlay that suits your purposes or use an existing overlay that does what you need. I would look at the existing overlays first, as I thought I remembered there being some with R2/L2 buttons visible.

I did not know about overlays. Works perfectly fine now.

Thanks a lot !

Great! I’m glad you got it worked out

Just one more thing,

I am having a problem with diagonals, even with the “psx with diagonals” overlay. Do you know of an overlay with 4 extra buttons for diagonals ?

It would be much more convenient when we play games instead of having to press both buttons at exactly the same time (which often does not work), but maybe there is no such button ?

Also, it could be good to have 4 more buttons between [] X ? O like []+X, ?+O, etc. It would be really like playing on a real pad since only one finger (one touch) usually do the trick on a regular pad.

I don’t think you can assign a single overlay press to 2 different buttons. I believe a similar request for 3-punch/3-kick buttons for Street Fighter 2 was declared not currently possible.

Ok. Still a great emulator though.

Cheers

Not sure if this idea has ever been proposed to maister - perhaps it should - see if it’s a good idea and whether or not we should implement it.

So should I post the idea in the implementations forum ?

This would be great for games like Marvel vs Capcom etc., I was wondering also if this could be added in a future release.
