Questions about PC cores

Ok, I’m new to retroarch and I was wondering is there a place to go to download other cores for the pc version other than the ones provided in phoenix? I know I can compile my own cores but I can’t seem to figure that out.

So in short, is there a place to download pre-compiled cores for retroarch?

Thanks for all your help.

The Phoenix update utility is the approved/supported means for getting them, followed by compiling your own. There are a number of users who have compiled various cores and posted them for others, but I don’t know of any comprehensive unofficial repos or anything like that.

To compile your own, I recommend checking out Maister’s portable dev environment from this thread: http://forum.themaister.net/viewtopic.php?id=467

It’s geared toward 64-bit systems.

Most of the cores that aren’t available through Phoenix seem to have issues being compiled for use on Windows, for whatever reason. The only one I have that isn’t available is Yabause, which is very slow, and the 32-bit version of DOSBox, which has issues.
