Questions about retroarch

Hi guys!!

sorry for all questions, but i bought a handheld GPD G58, and i have some problems/doubts. I have stable version 1.0.0.2

1 - How to use the back button and resume option?¿ after launch the game, if I quit, is not possible to resume the game. The new GUI is functional? how can configure each core options… if everytime i quit a game to GUI, really close the game? the RGUI is working well

2 - Every time i load a Mastersystem/GameGear game, retroarch hangs… any ideas?

3 - How to configure resolutions for each game?

For example, megadrive, there is 256x224 and 320x224 games… is possible to retroarch to use 640x448 and 768x448 automatically?

Or neogeo… there is 320x224 and 304x224 games… 640x448 and 608x448 is a must to keep integer scaling…

4 - About resolution…is possible to use fixed scaling? for example 3x2 or 2x2… or 2.5x2… i will love in megadrive to use 800x448 for 320x224 (2.5x2), and 768x224 for 256x224 games (3x2)

If i use a fix reaolution of 800x448, 256x224 games (768x448) look bad, because the 32 pixels of bad scaling

Thanks!

First off, you’re probably better off trying one of the android nightlies from buildbot.libretro.com. The 1.0.0.2 version from the Play store is quite old and will be replaced soon.

  1. Don’t use the back button if you want to get back into the game. Just use the RGUI menu instead.

  2. Yeah, that was a problem with the 1.0.0.2 release. I believe the nightlies are fine.

  3. It sounds like you just need to turn on integer scaling (in the video settings) and let it scale up to the largest integer it will fit. You can also change the aspect ratio from that same menu.

  1. i found it difficult to use the resolution and scaling. but after a few hours i succeed to get some scaling that i like with most emus. didnt test genesis much. but play with settings and take some time to understand the way it work.

  2. test 1.0.0.1 i played GAmegear with it. i always prefer 1.0.0.1 vs 1.0.0.2

Hi, thanks for reply

I installed latest nightly… well, finally i guess, that the “GUI” is just useless, for sure in future will be a replacement to RGUI… but for now, will be amazing to have a option to skip the normal gui

Still same problems in video… any way to do integer scaling or non integer scaling, but depend game resolution? for example 640x448 for 320x224 games, and 768x448 for 256x224 games

I need to adjust for every game!

In neogeo is same, 640x448 is great for 320x224 game but not good for 304x224 ones… etc etc

Any way to do some kind of widescreen scaling? but keeping some kind of integer scaling if is possible

For example

800x448 for 320x224 (2.5x2) 768x448 for 256x224 (3x2) 768x448 for 384x224 (2x2) 760x448 for 304x224 (2.5x2)

etc

The idea is retroarch to detect resolution, and apply a custom scaling

(I can see latest nightly is to much obscure in options compared to stable, but i guess is because is a test version… hope in final version, will be easy to use again)

Sorry my english

2 Try to unzip rom, instead of feed .zip to retroarch. For me, SMS/GG and Genesis roms are working if unpacked.

Thanks, yes, i unpacked all, when i discover retroarch dont work very well with zip, but still GG/MS dont work with 1.0.0.2 + genesis plus gx. With picodrive works better, but have random hangs too
