Hey there! Over the past week I’ve acquired a New 3DS XL, added LumaCFW via Soundhax, updated to 11.5, and acquired RetroArch 1.6.7 for it. I’ve been trying out some of my favorite games with it and have mixed results. Genesis games via genesis_plus_gx_libretro run at pretty much full speed (maybe a frame drop or two that I might not have noticed), as well as GBA games via gpsp_libretro and NES games via nestopia_libretro. However, SNES games via snes9x2010_libretro are slower on average, sometimes as low as 20-something FPS in a game like Mega Man X, and almost never breaking 50 FPS in games like Super Mario Kart. I’m hesitant to try other cores like MAME, FBAlpha, or PCSX-rearmed as a result, and I haven’t tried a nightly version just yet.
Is there a speedy but modern option for SNES on (N)3DS without resorting to an older SNES9x core like 2002 or 2005? Will we ever see a SNES9x 1.53 or 1.54 in RA 3DS running at 60 FPS?
