RA doesn't support Saturn games with Chinese file names?

Hello everyone, I’m a Chinese gamer and I’m having trouble running Saturn games.

For Chinese people whose English proficiency isn’t very good, changing the game filename to Chinese is the easiest way to distinguish games. However, the Beetle Saturn and Kronos cores don’t fully support this. Once Chinese characters appear in the filename, launching the game will bring me to the Saturn system interface unless I change the filename to English. Is there any solution? Is there a way to contact the core or RA emulator authors?

Also, I tried the Android version of the RA emulator and, using the Beetle Saturn core, I can launch games with Chinese names without any problems.

tried renaming game files using Chinese characters and RA Beetle Saturn played them fine.

Preferably use chd format because using two cue /bin files and renaming them can cause issues

Yes, I used the chd format. Did you test it on the Windows version of the RA simulator?

Can you provide some log ?

Thank you.

I just tried several CHD games after changing the names to Chinese characters, and I get the same error on all of them. Straight to the Saturn system screen.

Here are the logs!

I tested three games in total. I copied them and renamed them with both English and Chinese characters. Running these six ROMs in RA using the Beetle Saturn core revealed that the ROMs with English names launched the games normally, while those with Chinese characters only launched the Saturn system interface and might cause RA to crash when entering or exiting the game. I didn’t run logs for the Kronos core this time, but based on past experience, the results are the same. I didn’t test other Saturn cores because I only use them in RA.

Yes, If the file name contains Chinese characters, you can’t enter the game. But strangely, I can enter the game in the Android version of RA.

yes, the Windows version. And locale and keyboard is not set to Chinese either. I copied random Chinese words to rename the file.

Also renamed some files, this type by typing Japanase Kanji and Kronos and Beetle would launch them here on the picture I even mix Chinese and English characters fine.

I updated RA to the latest version and used the core update function within RA, but it still failed. However, I think I found the problem. The Beetle Saturn core that was updated within RA is still the old v0.9.45.1 version. I see that your core is already version 1.29. How did you update it?

I just searched for the 1.29 kernel on Google and replaced it, but the game still fails to launch. It seems the kernel isn’t the problem. I tried updating the kernel in RA, but it still overwrote the old kernel. Could it be something to do with the BIOS? I installed the BIOS version according to the official RA manual (see the image above).

I have same bios files. Perhaps those 2 cores have issues with Chinese locale files.
