Reicast and Reicast OIT: are they good?

hi, i dowloaded the Reicast core, ant then I scan the directory that includes all the .cdi images of my dreamcast games. After that, the emulator and list icons aren’t displayed… why?

I tried to create a little playlist with Retroarch playlist Manager, but i’m not sure if i’m able to use it correctly. After that, i see the 3 games in this way: https://postimg.cc/image/refmemumz/ea83b6d8/ I tried to download thumbnails too for Dreamcast, but they aren’t displayed.

And it is impossible to run every game: if I try, retroarch crashes and closes… :frowning: Can you help me please?

The snes emulator works correctly: https://s33.postimg.cc/4e8z2l76n/Immagine3.png

I can’t get either of these cores to work. In Vulkan it will just fail to load the game and drop me back to the RetroArch main menu, in GL it will crash to desktop without message. The cores are seeing the bioses so I’m not sure what’s going wrong as it’s not giving me a log.

I’m on Win 10 on a GPD Win 2 (w/ intel 615 integrated graphics) running the latest stable of RA and cores from yesterday (7/13).

With the last version of Reicast OIT (14th of July), I have a black screen for every naomi or atomiswave game . Maybe its because of CG shaders but not sure All is working for you ?

Thanks

legolas: In my experience, the scanning and playlist creation subsystem is particularly tricky when it comes to cdrom based platforms. I ended up creating my own. You can use playlist manager, playlist buddy, this webapp https://www.marcrobledo.com/retroarch-playlist-editor/ Notepad++ will make things much easier too. It’s a bit of a pain in the ass, but it works. Through trial and error, I finally found a format that RA likes (it’s really finicky with playlists). I will post the end of my lpl file for reicast. It needs to be exactly like this or it might not work. Of course, change your paths and filenames, as they will be different from mine. Note the blank spaces every six lines. They must be there, including that last one in line 624. They replace the crc line.

hostile: I can confirm that the newest version runs naomi and naomiswave, at least in ogl

atsumori-neo: what game/s are you trying to run?

Thanks for your reply So for me, with CG shaders, I have black screen But with GLSL shaders, its working normally Strange no ?

This is not unusual and happens with Cg shaders on many hardware-rendered cores. It’s part of why we have deprecated Cg shaders (except for use with D3D9 driver).

I’m trying to run Crazy Taxi (confirmed to work at least in NullDC) but I’ve tried a couple of other games like Skies of Arcadia and those didn’t work either.

With the little information you provided the only thing I can do is confirm that Crazy Taxi runs ok for me (newest core, v1.7.3, vanilla reicast, opengl). I asked about the games because WinCE (Sega Rally 2 for example) crashes RA here, and it could have been that.

Thanks and sorry for the lack of log–I just assumed it was a known intel driver issue.

Here’s a verbose log. It exits after the last line with no further warnings: https://pastebin.com/ETQb65wB

Hi Squalo, I have a question for you : with last version of Reicast OIT (14th of July), is your Metal Slug 6 fixed ? I’ve read that it was fixed, but I still have the missing graphics. You too ?

Thanks

I just played the first two stages and a few hiccups here and there aside, it ran perfectly : )

Something like that ?

This bug was fixed in latest version, there is one important thing to know though : the first line of your lst file must be “Metal Slug 6” (case sensitive). Sadly, we need to enable a specific hack for this specific game, and atm we have no way to figure out which naomi game is running besides using the first line of this lst file. I recommend using the content of https://github.com/libretro/reicast-emulator/tree/master/lst as reference for the first line of your lst files, there are a few other games using specific hack.

Thanks for your answer and for all the work on this wonderful core

Skies definitely works, it was one of the first games i tested out. Audio isn’t quite right but it definitely works.

Thanks for fixing the white screen issue in Gunlord.
